Accidents in childhood in times of COVID-19 pandemic

Abstract
Objective
To identify the occurrence of accidents involving children and adolescents in Mato Grosso do Sul State, reported in the digital media during the period of social isolation imposed by the pandemic of COVID-19.
Methods
A documentary and retrospective study on childhood accidents published in information vehicles was carried out.
Results
12 reports pointed out the accidents occurred at the Family home during the period of social isolation – the main events were drowning, falls, burns, suffocation, being run over and intoxicated.
Conclusion
Pediatric nurses play an important role in supporting families and protecting children, making it necessary to direct efforts to families with young children at home, in order to ensure their protection and safe development.
