Abstract

Thinking about family as a context and focus of care is a challenge for health professionals and involves going beyond guiding and waiting for collaboration in the performance of care actions towards the family member who demands care for illness or other type of suffering. This paper presents the experience of one League of Family Nursing as an extension activity created with the primary objective of supporting the development of skills in undergraduate nursing students for a clinical practice of care for families experiencing illness situations. Considering the central aspect that the family occupies in the context of pediatrics, it is important to stimulate the establishment of academic links that articulate the family as a context and focus on the training of pediatric nurse specialist. Academic nursing leagues are places that bring together undergraduates students, teachers and nurses who can foster the training of future pediatric nurses, committed to the current trends of family-centered care.
