DOI: 10.31508/1676-3793200600006
Abstract
High prevalence of Ascaris infection among young children led to develop many studies in different countries and its impact over their nutritional condition. However, a few of them had described the number of hospitalized children with intestinal parasitic infection in different place. These data prompted us to investigate the prevalence of hospitalized children with enteroparasitosis in three hospitals at Guarapuava city, associating degree of infection, age, sex and nutritional conditions. The nutritional state of the children was evaluated by anthropometrics measurements adopted by World Health Organization, using as standard reference the curve adopted for the National Center of Health Statistic. The intestinal parasitic infection represented 32.14% of hospitalized children, and the majority was between 0 and 3 years. Moreover, the malnutrition children were more hospitalized with enteroparasite and Ascaris-infection aggravate compared with nourished children. In conclusion, ours results suggest that the malnutrition is an aggravating factor to the susceptibility to enteroparasitosis infections.
