Pain in children: update on assessment and treatment

Abstract

During hospitalization, the child is subjected to invasive procedures that cause pain. Pediatric nurses must keep up to perform pain assessment and implement the best treatment. In this article we introduce the concepts of pain, types of pain, the instruments for pain assessment and pharmacological and nonpharmacological methods for treatment.
