The assistance to the parents of hospitalized children at a pediatric unit: the parents opinion contributing to nursing care

Abstract
This is a descriptive quantitative research, whose objective was to characterize the relatives of children in a children’s inpatient unit at a hospital in the city of Taubaté-SP and known as the companion evaluates the care received by him during the child’s hospitalization. The project was approved by the Ethics in Research of the University of Taubaté, in the CEP / UNITAU Nº 026/08. The sample consisted of 77 attendants. Data were collected through a form with closed and opened questions. The results showed that all the attendants were female and who recognize the importance of their participation in this time of admission. In the unit studied, it is necessary to provide escorts best accommodation and leisure activities. This is a challenge that must be faced, to get quality and humanization of care provided by caregivers.
