Abstract
The pediatric nursing consultation has the aim to follow and assess the growing and development of children. The attendance to child and his/her family is a challenge to the health team, making it necessary the follow-up of the child by orientating and providing support so that an assistance which is planned, individualized and of quality with the socio-economical resource of the community he/she is in takes place. Identify what the perception of the children’s companions who need the pediatric nursing consultation is, verifying whether the orientations received during the consultation cleared their doubts, as well as if the companions understood the orientations given in the consultation. Descriptive exploratory research with qualitative approach. The participants were 10 family members who have attended the nursing consultation at a Basic Health Unit in the city of Canoas. An interview has been carried out with semi-structured questions and it has been used the thematic analysis. Three themes were identified: 1) Perception of the companions about the consultation (orientation, resolutivity, humanization of attendance); 2) Most frequent doubts (feeding, evacuation, sleep and rest, holding in the arms/whinning, regurgitation, sore skin, oral hygiene, little weight gain); 3) Orientations given (oral hygiene, body hygiene, perineal hygiene, breastfeeding, care with the breasts, accident prevention, fever, nasal obstruction). We can infer that the pediatric nursing consultation was important to clarify doubts, cleared up misunderstood, solved problems and brought family members satisfaction.
