Bringin toys to the babies at Neonatal Intensive Care Unit: the meaning for parents

Abstract
Prior notice of the qualitative research uses as a theorical reference the Symbolic Interacionism and methodological reference the Grounded Theory, held with parents of infants hospitalized in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), with the goal of understanding the mean of parents bring playthings for their children in the NICU. The preliminary analysis of the data showed parents take playthings to taking a bit of the house to the hospital, trying to familiarize the child with the things of the house, helping in the formation of the bond, interacting and knowing better the child, decreasing the suffering of the baby, distracting him, stimulating the baby and testing its development. The data also show playthings that parents choose to take theirs children have some special meaning for them, and through its, try to bring the child of a normal life.
