Practice of the nurse from the Family Health Strategy in children’s health care, Cariré – Ceará

Abstract
Objective:
To analyze the practice developed by the nurse from the Family Health Strategy-FHS during individual or collective care of children.
Methods:
It is a descriptive exploratory research, with qualitative approach, carried out in FHS territories, in the municipality of Cariré – Ceará, with nine nurses, during the period from February to May 2010.
Results:
Nurse Practice in children’s health care in FHS develops assistance, managerial, and educational actions and community, individual or collective mobilization, with focusing on sickness prevention, health promotion, cure and rehabilitation.
Conclusions:
The study shows that there is a focusing on actions that cause greater impact on infant morbidity and mortality indicators and that influence directly on the quality of life of children.
