Abstract

The pandemic generated by the new coronavirus has had major impacts on the world, including education. The present study addresses aspects related to remote care during the pandemic in the Hospital Class of A.C. Camargo Cancer Center Hospital, which treats children and adolescents affected by cancer. The Hospital Class service was reinvented in 2020 and despite the pandemic, there was a significant increase in pedagogical assistance, due to the use of the online tool for remote education. It is known that several challenges were encountered during the year and mainly at the beginning, due to great uncertainties about how education would survive this period. It was possible to learn from the adversities and see that remote education will be an additional tool in teaching children and young people who previously only had access to the Hospital Class when admitted in pediatric oncology consultations or when receiving outpatient chemotherapy. Providing more meetings and taking education remotely to children and teenagers are options to ensure quality education and a better future for those affected by cancer.
