DOI: 10.31508/1676-379320220003
Abstract
Objective
To assess women’s knowledge about breastfeeding, using the Knowl Scale.
Methods
Cross-sectional quantitative observational study, whose sample consisted of 128 pregnant women, users of primary care units in a medium-sized municipality in the west of Paraná, carried out from February to September 2019. The analysis was descriptive and inferential statistics, in which Kuder-Richardson, Cronbach’s alpha, and intraclass correlation tests were used.
Results
Knowledge was considered between moderate and adequate, whose number of correct answers in the questions individually ranged from 32.03% to 96.87%. Cronbach and Kuder Richardson’salpha was 0.49. The total variance of the test was 5.47. The intraclass correlation was 0.756.
Conclusion
The Knowl Scale was considered easy and quick to apply, allowing us to say that it has the potential to assess women’s knowledge about breastfeeding in primary care.
