DOI: 10.31508/1676-379320220008
Abstract
Objective
To know the perceptions of Nursing students in relation to intergenerational relationships in pediatrics.
Methods
Qualitative study. Data were collected from a sample of 32 students from the third and fourth years of graduation in Nursing, through questionnaires and interviews. Data were analyzed in light of Symbolic Interactionism by qualitative content analysis.
Results
It was possible to list three categories: describing and attributing meaning to grandparents, experiencing experiences of being cared for by grandparents and reflecting on the presence of the child’s grandparents in the hospital. It is essential that the teaching of care centered on children and their families brings content that addresses this generation, so that future nurses are able to see them as part of the experience, so that grandparents are included in care actions.
Conclusion
We consider it essential to expand the perspective of care centered on children and their families, so that future nurses are able to carry out the inclusion of grandparents in care actions.
