Activities developed by nursing aides and other healthcare technicians in pre and post-consultation with the child

Abstract

A descriptive and exploratory research conducted in four units of family health from Cuiabá-MT, that aimed at characterizing the activities developed by nursing aides and other healthcare technicians in pre-consultation and post-consultation with the child, as well as the relations established between these, mothers and children. Systematic observation was used to capture the activities, by itinerary previously drawn up. Participated in the study 16 nursing aides and other healthcare technicians and were observed 11 pre-consultation and 16 post-consultation, between February and April 2012. The data were analyzed based on relevant literature. The activities performed in pre-consultation were limited to the procedures technicians of gauging of weight and stature and it was observed that the most of the works called the child by name, demonstrating attention, boding, attitude of care and affection. In the post-consultation, especially in the vaccine room, the activities were limited to the application of immunobiologicals, no guidance was offered to mothers/companion and there no interaction or attachment. The results make us reflect if the activities in pre and post-appoiment the way that are organized serve to the assumptions from the family health strategy to provide integral attention and of quality to the child and his family.
