Abstract

It is well known that the hospitalization process brings new experiences in the life of the child and his family. This experience includes biological, social and emotional needs. The study is a descriptive, qualitative research conducted in the Pediatrics Hospital School in the State of São Paulo, whose goal was to describe the experience of family members in relation to the process of hospitalization of your child in a Pediatric Unit. Participated in the study 27 families and the analysis of the data was organized into three themes: Feelings generated by illness; the day-day in the hospital and the overcoming of difficulties. We observed that the experience of the process of hospitalization is experienced in different ways by parents. So you need a family planning nurse along to, considering the experiences of life, in order to minimize the impact of hospitalization and promote quality nursing care.
