Abstract

Objective

Explain about the development and implementation of the Pediatric Sepsis Managed Protocol in a public university hospital.

Methods

Descriptive study to report the experience of developing and implementing a pediatric sepsis protocol, built based on the proposal of Convergent Care Research, started in 2017 with an interprofessional team, teachers and students involved in the care of children in the units pediatric patients.

Results

The implantation and development took place in three stages: pre-intervention, intervention and post-intervention and the protocol consisted of three moments: screening for suspected cases, evaluations and clinical procedures. Meetings were held with the protocol management team, a flow of care and educational activities were developed for health professionals and students.

Conclusion

The active participation of the health team and students, together with the management team, was fundamental for the operationalization and implementation, establishing the translation of knowledge and adaptation to the reality of the population served.
