Abstract

To identify scientific evidence on evaluation methods of infiltration related to peripheral IVT in infants and children. Integrative review aimed to analyze the scientific production of nursing in the evaluation of infiltration in newborns and children in peripheral intravenous therapy. Latin American and Caribbean Center on Health Sciences Information, Cumulative Index of Nursing and Allied Health Literature, Cochrane, SCOPUS and Medical Publications were the electronic databases used to search full peer-reviewed papers. The study included 18 articles written by nurses. The results show that the incorporation of care protocols in clinical practice contributes to the prevention and reduction of the severity of infiltration. However, there is a gap in the production of nursing knowledge on the subject, especially in the Brazilian context.
