Abstract

Hospitalization brings inconvenience at all stages of life, particularly in childhood. This study aims to report the experience of implementation of the hospital class from recreational and educational activities with children and adolescents hospitalized. This is an experience report of critical and reflective approach to descriptive and comprehensive conclusions about the perceptions and difficulties experienced in the actions developed in an extension project from March 2011 to December 2012 in a hospital in the western border southern Brazil. It was observed that the pedagogical activity can minimize the negative effects arising from hospitalization, assists in improving the quality of life of the child/adolescent and contributes to completeness in health care. The shares have managed not only to ensure the right to education of children/ adolescents hospitalized, but also functioned as tools for nursing care in pediatrics.
