Quality of life of adolescents living with systemic lupus erythematosus

Abstract

Objective

To evaluate the quality of life of adolescents with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus assisted at an outpatient clinic specialized in adolescent health.

Methods

Descriptive, quantitative study developed in an outpatient clinic. It was carried out with 19 adolescents living with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, using a quality of life assessment scale. Data were collected from January to August 2020 and analyzed using descriptive statistics.

Results

Predominance of female adolescents, aged over 15 years, white, attending elementary school, family income in the range of one to two minimum wages. In the dimensions related to quality of life, the following stand out as impaired dimensions: health and physical activity. When performing the general average of the scores of all adolescents, were obtained the value of 73.4 ± 9.64 was obtained, considered a positive perception of their quality of life.

Conclusion

The study showed positive mean scores in the different dimensions analyzed.
