Repercussions of hospitalization of low birth weight for the mother and her family: an integrative literature review

Abstract
Integrative review that aims to evaluate the evidence regarding the impact of hospitalization of a infant of low birth weight for the family. Data collect was developed in July 2011, with time frame from 1990. After classifying nature and tendency, only studies with social-cultural nature were analyzed. Corpus was composed with 12 articles and theme content analysis was developed. Results pointed out that neonatal intensive care unit admission bring psychological and emotional repercussions to the mother, through fear, fatigue, denial and distance between mother and child. Also, the support need dismiss from the children who are at home and financial restrictions that unfeasible visits. It’s recommended a team work between staff with family and her family, as a care unit.
