Abstract

The phenomenon of violence against children and adolescents is materialized through various forms, ie physical and psychological violence, neglect, and particularly the sexual abuse and exploitation. The latter are the focus of this work which seeks to describe the context of sexual violence against children and adolescents. The research is of quantitative character, which data source was the official reports of the Police Precinct for the Protection of Children and Adolescents in Porto Velho, Rondonia. The analysis was performed using the program Microsoft Office Excel 2007. The data reveal that 87.6% of victims are female, 85% of perpetrators are male and 55.17% of cases the perpetrators have great proximity to the family of the abused. Considering those findings, it was noticed that the caregivers are the same as abuse and that prevention and protection has little if translated into effective results.
