Social Responsibility Actions Against Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children Developed by Private Companies

Abstract

The exploitation and trafficking of human beings for the sex trade is a remote problem that took epidemic proportions in the world. The private initiatives can help combat this type of violation of human rights. This study aimed to check if there are practices of cooperation against the exploitation commercial sexual of children and adolescents, conducted by Brazilian companies, and analyze how they are accomplished. The selection of prominent companies in Brazil, registered at BOVESPA, was the criterion for inclusion of data collection. It was a survey of annual, financial and sustainability reports, published on their sites to obtain information about direct/indirect participation of the companies. The study identified that there are initiatives by private organizations focused on: violence against children and adults; only against children and sexual violence against children. The information found in their reports consists of brief comments of their actions and is not explained further details of their involvement.
