DOI: 10.31508/1676-3793200300007
Abstract
The study investigated two purposes: identifying kangaroo-mother (KM) attributed relevance by nursing staff from intermediary nursery hospital and analyzing how they linked it to caring process. Beyond the free association and projective technique, we asked 12 health care providers: What does this picture (a mother’s hand touching her baby in the incubator) mean to you? How do you relate it to your providing care? We repeated both questions and afterwards showing the second one (mother’s twins in KM position). From the data content analysis two categories emerged: the attributed relevance corroborated the advantages pointed by literature and got associated to provided assistance. Then, the method promotion and aid granted by staff to mother, in positioning and sustaining the premature baby in KM stand, it also control a general status and provides with more family interaction.
