Abstract
The aims of the study were to identify nurse’s feeling toward child out of therapeutic possibilities and relate his/her role to the child’s family. Death is always an inexplicable loss and several times misunderstood by many people. The qualitative interview was developed with six nurses who work in the following settings: Infant Oncology Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The Content Analysis was applied to the data, and results revealed that the most common professional’s feelings toward diagnosis were sadness, frustration and powerlessness. Besides, his/her conduct toward the family was to stimulate the bond between family and child during the transitional time of death. We believe that nurses looked for appropriate ways to face and handle with this mourning; hence, they applied different strategies to promote the welcoming for nursing team and children family members who were dealing with death.
