DOI: 10.31508/1676-379320230001
Abstract
Objective
To validate a scale to assess the severity of diaper dermatitis for the Portuguese language.
Methods
Methodological validation study by following the steps: independent translation of the instrument, synthesis of translations, reverse translation, analysis of the synthesized version by a committee of seven judges and pre-test with 30 health professionals. The pre-test took place in the children’s hospitalization units of a university hospital, between March and June, 2022. For stability analysis, we have used the Intraclass Correlation Coefficient; for equivalence, the Content Validity Index; and, for internal consistency, the Cronbach’s Alpha.
Results
The judges’ evaluation showed excellent agreement (≥85%) among the items. In the pre-test, Cronbach’s alpha was 0.78, which was considered substantial, while the intraclass correlation was 0.66, considered good and similar to the original instrument.
Conclusion
The scale was validated for the Portuguese language and can be used for its purpose.
