Validation of the content of the booklet “knowing the chemotherapeutic treatment” with children and adolescents

Abstract
Objective
To validate the content of the booklet “Knowing about chemotherapy treatment” from the perspective of children and adolescents with cancer.
Methods
A methodological study of the technology validation type, carried out at the oncology clinic and oncology outpatient clinic in a pediatric hospital in Salvador-Bahia. Data collection began in February 2020, was suspended for seven months due to the pandemic, and ended in November of the same year, totaling 18 participating children and adolescents. For validation, the calculation of the Content Validation Index was used.
Results
The booklet was validated in the first stage of evaluation, with a final global Content Validation Index equal to 0.94 and, by category, indexes greater than 0.80.
Conclusion
The booklet can be used as an instrument for the production of child- and adolescent-centered care, understanding that they are able to understand past information.
