Abstract Objective To analyze the findings of newborn screening tests in newborns from a joint accommodation in a school maternity hospital in northeastern Brazil. Abstract The objective of this study was to investigate which factors influence early neonatal mortality, identifying the most prevalent causes of neonatal deaths and describing deaths with avoidable potential. It is a documental analysis of retrospective study. Of the 386 deaths that occurred between 2014 and 2017, 68.7% occurred in the precocious neonatal period.
